Homebuyer Tax Credit Extension
Congress has extended and expanded the Homebuyer's tax credit. You have until April 30, 2010 to have a written contract in place, with a closing date by July 1, 2010.
First time
buyer: $ 8000 ( $ 4000 if
married and filing separate)
Definition of
eligibility: May not have had an interest in a principal residence for 3
years prior to purchase.
Current
homeowner: $ 6500 ( $ 3250 if married and filing separately )
Definition of
eligibility: Must have used the home sold or being sold as a principal
residence consecutively for 5 of the previous 8 years.
